Pedro is an economic and financial analysis expert with 10 years experience in the export credit field assessing risk in a variety of industries and transaction types.
Pedro has 20 years of experience in banking and export credit insurance. Upon completing his Masters in International Economics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, he became an equity analyst at Banco Pactual, where he would remain from 2001 to 2008. Although he remained focused primarily on buy-side equity, he covered a number of industries and markets in US, global emerging and frontier markets, as well as occasional analysis of credit instruments in developed markets.
In 2009 he joined the Brazilian export credit insurance agency, where he began as a country risk manager and later on assumed responsibility for all credit risk assessments, including country, corporate, project finance, structured finance, sureties and asset-backed risk in medium long term export credit insurance transactions. The industries he analyzed include, but are not limited to, transportation equipment (rolling stock, urban mobility projects, aircraft), construction & engineering (toll roads, water distribution and treatment, airports), energy (hydro power, wind power generation, biomass plants), machinery (ethanol plants, autoparts, mining equipment, agricultural implements, and more), defense and security equipment.
He was also responsible for the greater part of the agency's international relations. In this role he interfaced regularly with export credit agencies, development organizations, international financial institutions, and government entities and represented the agency at Berne Union, G11, IWG, BRICS, and bilateral cooperation meetings. He was elected to serve a 2-year term from 2017 as Berne Union Medium Long Term Committee Vice-Chair.
In addition to his JHU SAIS degree, Pedro has a BA from the University of Virginia, is a CFA Charterholder, and is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
